Our Management Team
The CLIP network will have a single leadership model. The Clinical Director position will rotate on a biannual basis between our sites. This role will focus on the strategic development of the network, monitoring quality and governance standards, and will be the inter-network connection point when liasing with other IF teams.

Network Financial Model
UCLH will host the network and therefore hold the network funds and employment of the MDM coordinator and data manager. The CLIP network will for now retain individualised budgets at each site to minimise disruption and especially as many IF posts also have some cover elements for other services within Gastrointestinal medicine and surgery. However, there will be close financial co-working between the sites. The network funds will be deployed as per the group decisions made at the CLIP business meetings – the intention in the first instance is to use the fund to employ a network MDM coordinator and data manager, as well as to fund some psychology support for the network’s IF patients. In addition, there will be a benchmarking exercise to compare use of resources and ensure best practices are deployed at each site and any opportunities for cross-site efficiencies eg in standardising and pooling the purchase of equipment are maximised. Where patients are to be transferred between ICBs the contracting teams at the sites of the CILP network will be engaged to ensure appropriate processes are followed. There are already discussions underway regarding the transition of specialist commissioning from NHSE/I to ICBs. As Intestinal Failure is in the “amber” category of services, current arrangements will remain in place until April 2024 by which point we will have clarification on the future model.
